Next ST JUST Procession : Holy Saturday 19 April 2025 11am
Last year’s route (2024):

On Good Friday 2023, the Breseloryon first joined forces with St Just church to bring the Cornish music of Our Lord’s Passion to the community of St Just (Lanust, in Cornish). It took two and a half hours to travel around the town, with people joining us all along the route.
Saint Just has been the modern day home of the Cornish Ordinalia plays since the beginning of the current century. The town certainly hosted plays – in Cornish – long before this, during the medieval period, and we feel that we have brought our music to be part of a long tradition of Cornish Language religious narrative in the area.
The beautiful church of St Just dates back to 1336, and an earlier church stood on the site. On Good Friday 2023, the Breselor Ensemble joined forces with the vicar of St Just, Pendeen and Morvah parishes, Reverend Karsten Wedgewood, and the crucifer and churchwarden, Andrew Burt, to bring the church ritual into the heart of the community.

The fourteen stations used were set at local landmarks and businesses and included both the Wesleyan Chapel and the church. The route began in St Just plain – the site of the Ordinalia plays – as the Garden of Gethsemane, and ended in the churchyard for contemplation of the burial of Jesus. Elizabeth and Megan sang Ave Maria in Cornish here, amongst the blossoming apple trees.
