Johnny has been a professional musician since leaving school in 1994. He began playing piano in hotels and restaurants and has gone on to play in various function bands over the years. He taught himself to play jazz piano, playing with the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra for three years before going on to perform in a band aboard Princess Cruise ships between 2000 and 2002.
He has played in various jazz trios and, in 2009, set up and ran his own three-piece wedding band, the Goodfellas, playing keyboards and singing. He has done many solo engagements, playing for weddings and parties. Johnny has been organist for two churches and currently plays the organ for the Catholic services at St Petroc’s church in Padstow.
He moved to Cornwall last March and has lived in Padstow since the beginning of this year. He plays cornet in the Indian Queen’s Brass Band and performs every Sunday on piano at the Harbour Inn in Padstow. He runs an open mic there every Thursday. He teaches piano and trumpet from the Studios in Newquay.
